Burton and Uttoxeter Care Home Protest goes to Westminster

Taking the campaign against the Care Home closures to Westminster

The campaign to prevent the rapid closure of Care Homes in Burton and Uttoxeter was taken to Parliament yesterday. Conservative Parliamentary candidate Andrew Griffiths joined campaigners from Burton and Uttoxeter as they marched on Parliament, and delivered a petition to Number 10 Downing Street.

Andrew said,

"If elderly, vulnerable and disabled people feel strongly enough to take their protest to Parliament, then it is about time local politicians listened to their concerns.

There was a great atmosphere in Westminster; everyone was united in their determination to prevent this accelerated closure programme. What is clear is that the families of those affected are not going to give up without a fight, and I am pleased to play my part in the campaign. "

Andrew added,

"This closure programme will affect the most frail and vulnerable in Burton and Uttoxeter. The County Council must listen to our concerns and sort out this mess."
